NuYoRican School Original Poetry Jazz Ensemble, Inc teams up with Hostos Center for Arts and Culture to present a poetry jazz performance: "Our Times" on Friday, March 30, 2007 , 7:30 pm .
This ensemble consists of some of today's most innovative actors and musicians, fusing Latin jazz and Afro-Cuban drumming with the poetry of Magdalena Gomez, Jesus Papoleto Melendez, Hilda Herrera, Frank Perez, and Eugene Rodriguez providing commentary on our issues, our rituals and our lives. Produced by founding director of the ensemble and award winning poet Americo Casiano Jr. and Wallace Edgecombe, director of Hostos Center for Art & Culture. This powerful,energeric performance is Directed by Rhina Valentin "La Reina" and features Julia Ahumada Grob, Indio Melendez, Andre Rodriguez.and Rhina Valentin with Musical director Desmar Guevara on Keyboard, Richardo Rodriguez on bass, Jose Scringer vocals and percussion and Vincent George on drums and miscellanious percussion.
