Consisting of experimental and investigative prints influenced by the writings of poet Pablo Neruda, the exhibition is a mixture of highly personal visions and the unpredictable results of a shared exploration of text and imagery. The work is created through a variety of techniques and media. It considers the impact of language, idiom and translation on form and is accompanied by a live performance featuring music by Marni Rice with interactive and recorded elements. Artists Anita Antonetty, Laura Cantor, Alejandra Delfin and Amy Digi live and work in the Bronx. Performance directed by Michael Wiggins

Anita Antonetty began her formal study of art at Herbert H. Lehman College where she majored in Fine Arts with a concentration in printmaking. Her work has been exhibited at the Galeria Morivivi, Association of Hispanic Arts, Herbert H. Lehman College Art Gallery and elsewhere in the metropolitan area. Ms. Antonetty worked as a knitwear samplemaker in the garment industry. She has been an instructor of knitwear design technology at Parsons School of Design; SeaDad Studios, Inc.; and United Bronx Parents, Inc., Employment Training Program. She has also taught spinning, knitting and weaving at various community events in the Bronx. Ms. Antonetty counts her experience with fabric design as a major influence over her aproach to the printmaking process, especially as it relates to her use of pattern, color and texture.

Laura Cantor is an alumnus of Betty Wilde-Biasiny's Bronx Printmakers Workshop. In the 1970's she studied at the Pratt Institute and the School of Visual Arts. She recently received her Bachelor's Degree in art from Empire College, SUNY and is currently pursuing an MFA at Lehman College. Ms. Cantor's recent solo exhibit at the New York Transit Museum featured large "colorized" enlargements of mechanical parts of subway trains inspired by her work as an MTA employee.

Alejandra Delfin, Studio 889 founder and curator, is a professional graphic designer and framer. Ms. Delfin studied at the Bob Blackburn Printmakers Workshop and the Art Students League of New York. In Paris, she trained at Atelier 17, La Grande Chaumiere and Ecole des Beaux Artes. She is the recipient of a BRIO award from the Bronx Council on the Arts. Her work has been exhibited at various galleries including Longwood Art Gallery, The Bronx River Art Center, The Broom Gallery, Smith College, The Brecht Forum, Convento de San Francisco Museo de la Nation, and the Aliansa Francesa in Lima, Peru

Amy DiGi studied figurative art at Westchester Community Center, SUNY/Purchase and the School of Visual Arts. She received an Honors BFA from Pratt Institute. While serving with the Peace Corps in the Phillipines she created a series of bird paintings in watercolor and coffee. In Portland, Oregon she studied at the Hipbone Studio and worked with Royal Nebekar and Carol Beckerman. She spent a summer studying at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks and is currently pursuing an MFA at Lehman College. Since 2004, Ms. DiGi has been studying painting with Joseph Peller at the Art Students League of New York.

He has served in the role of co-producer or director for all of its productions and exhibitions and continues to oversee all aspects of the company's programming and operations. MUD/BONE is a 501(c) (3) chartiable organization and proud winner of the 2006 Union Square Arts Award. www.mudbone.org

The COLLABORATIVE PORTFOLIO PROJECT is a collection of 14 original prints produced in the South Bronx by members of the MUD/BONE Studio 889 PRINTMAKING WORKSHOP. The prints were created during the summer of 2006. The completed portfolio represents a wide diversity of themes, styles and techniques. Alejandra Delfin has contributed two colorful prints exploring the natural beauty of The Barretto Bay. Moses Ros' work features his own unique symbolism and approach to larger issues. His "Shark Oil" is the only three dimensional application of printmaking in our portfolio. Anita Antonetty comes from a background in fabric design. Her images deal with pattern, color and texture. Amy Digi's images straddle the line between the figurative and the abstract—they reflect her manic energy and her passion for the figure. Jose Fuentes' imagery deals with folkloric subjects and memories of Puerto Rico. Pruden Dajer's prints are still lives featuring geometric patterns and shapes. Laura Cantor has contributed two color prints of plants at Wave Hill. The prints are a combination of relief printing and collagraph using various techniques such as reduction printing, viscosity, chin colle and three-dimensional application of printmaking.
